Job Summary
The World Resources Institute (WRI) Beijing Office is seeking three highly self-motivated students to be research interns for the Sustainable Transition Center.
As a research intern, you will help provide research, data analysis, modeling, and outreach support to the Sustainable Transition Center in China, focusing on the sustainable development of China's industrial sector, such as, tracking the energy consumption and carbon emission of different industries, evaluating their future trend, etc.
The intern will support several interdisciplinary research projects on subnational decarbonization and industrial low-carbon development policies in China. The term will be at least six months, with a minimum of three days per week.
Responsibilities
1. Research (70%)
Dedicate in desk research, gather, and interpret data, and execute analysis to translate into meaningful insights.Conduct subnational and sectoral policy review and research on industrial decarbonization.Draft summary and report regarding the insights of data and policy.Present and report your findings to team members.Support other research activities per requests.
2. Administrative and translation affairs (30%)
Copyedit and translate reports and working papers.Provide administrative support per requests.
Qualifications
Enrolled in undergraduate (at least Junior) or graduate student with a degree in environment science, energy and power engineering, chemical engineering, or other related majors.Familiar with energy transition, industrial decarbonization, and climate change, or some relevant experience would be preferred (e.g., internships, research experience).Good written and oral communication skills in both Chinese and English.A high level of self-motivation, independent and commitment.The ability to analyze and work through complex problems.Flexibility, resilience, and intellectual curiosity.The ability to learn and update knowledge of decarbonization quickly.Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage change.
